Project Update: St Pat’s Community Engagement Hub
Construction of the St Pat’s Community Engagement Hub is now underway, following commencement at the beginning of this year.
Last week community members joined major project partners, including the Western Australian Government, Lotterywest, Minderoo Foundation and Sisters of St John of God, for an early glimpse of the building.
The redevelopment of St Pat’s Fremantle site begins with the transformation of their Beach Street warehouse into a welcoming Community Engagement Hub. The hub will house a social enterprise café, flexible community spaces, and co-located health and human services, providing dignified and discreet access to support for people experiencing homelessness.
Guided by trauma-informed design, the hub promotes dignity, agency, and safety through strategies such as passive surveillance, sensory modulation, and integrated landscape. With a focus on inclusivity and cultural safety, the spaces are designed to feel welcoming rather than institutional, encouraging connection between St Pat’s, their clients, and the broader community.
The Hub is set to open at the end of 2026.
