Invited by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries as heritage advisers, the project was to investigate and address possible façade movement. Digital photogrammetry was used to assess alignment, while targeted investigations identified corroded wall ties, a common issue in older Western Australian masonry buildings.
The façade was stabilised using a Helifix reinforcement system, and impermeable acrylic coatings were removed to allow the masonry to breathe. The brickwork was carefully restored and repointed, and severely deteriorated timber windows were reconstructed to match the original design while incorporating glazing compliant with current standards.
