CLIENT
City of Canning

A Changing Places facility for the City of Canning at their Civic Gardens. It is a bathroom, inclusive of a toilet and change facilities, and other specialised equipment which allows users highly dependent on carers to use the amenities in a safe, dignified, and comfortable manner.

These are specialised facilities that require a high level of design input to meet strict compliance requirements. In addition to providing inclusive, universally accessible public facilities, it also supports major events hosted at the City’s Civic Gardens.

A key objective was to provide a demonstration project to promote the City’s Sustainability Plan.

The primary design features and sustainability initiatives which were implemented include the construction methodology and site planning, a green roof, waterwise garden, and solar tubes for natural ventilation and daylighting.
